Twilight contest winners!

Here are the winners for the Twilight fan fiction contest:

First place: “Extended Family” by Sarah
Second place: “An Eye for Seth” by Maddy
Third place: [No Title] by Tyler

All the winners are being contacted directly by phone or e-mail. Thanks to everyone for participating —  we had fun reading the entries! Definitely keep writing and keep sending your stories out for contests and publications for young writers. (I’ll post some links for teen writers in the next day or two.)

Judges were local author Todd Fahnestock; Katie, a teen member of the Lighthouse Writer’s Workshop, and myself. The judges’ comments will be available to the writers upon request.

Twilight Fan Fiction Contest Countdown

twilightWe have a new deadline for our Twilight fan fiction contest, but the earlier you get your stories in, the better. The new deadline is Monday, November 30. There are some really cool prizes to be had, including a full hardcover set of the Twilight novels, the Twilight movie on DVD, both movie soundtracks, and even the board games. But you can’t win if you don’t enter, so e-mail your submissions to me at khutley@englewoodgov.org, or drop them off at our reference desk. We have three wonderful judges standing by!

Oct/Nov Programs Up

Important Updates: The deadline for the Twilight fan fiction contest has been extended to Monday, November 30.

Go here or click on the Programs tab at the top of the page to check out the new programs we have going on in October and November. We have a special effects make up workshop in October, held by a well-known professional who has worked on movies and on stage, and and a showing of the Twilight movie just before Halloween. In November, we have a Twilight fan fiction contest and two writing workshops by well-known authors. Please register for the special effects program, the writing workshops, and the movie showing by calling 303-762-2555 or stopping by the reference desk — this helps me know how much food to buy and how much space I need.
